President Macky Sall's campaign for the post of United Nations Secretary-General rests on a method: direct dialogue with every region of the world. The diplomatic sequence of June 2026 illustrates it. In one month, it took the candidate from Western Europe to East Asia, by way of the Baltic and the Mediterranean.
On 2 June, in Paris, President Macky Sall met President Emmanuel Macron. On 17 June, he spoke by videoconference with Latvia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže. At the end of the month, he took part in the Jeju Forum in the Republic of Korea, devoted to peace and cooperation in Asia. On 29 June, in Beijing, he was received by Foreign Minister Wang Yi. On 2 July, in Athens, he held talks with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The results are tangible. In a single month, President Macky Sall met four members of the Security Council, including two permanent members. Every exchange addressed substance: the renewal of multilateralism, conflict prevention, development financing, and the place of emerging countries and small States in global governance.
The sequence reflects a conviction. A candidacy for Secretary-General is not built on slogans. It is built on strategic partnerships, on listening and on consistency. From Paris to Beijing, from Riga to Athens, President Macky Sall carries the same message, set out in his vision: renew multilateralism for a better world, with all regions and for all regions.
The calendar now enters a decisive phase. The Security Council opened its private consultations on 30 June. The first indicative straw polls are expected in the last week of July. These informal ballots will measure the support of the Council's fifteen members for each candidate. They will shape the next stage of the selection process.
President Macky Sall approaches this stage with composure. His campaign has followed the same line since its launch: method, consistency, results. It will keep engaging all Member States, without exclusion and with respect for each one. The campaign news section will report on the coming steps at www.mackysall.net.
