The campaign website opens a series in three acts. Each week, one article presents a pillar of the vision "Renewing Multilateralism for a Better World", submitted to the United Nations in March 2026. Act one: there is no peace without development. President Macky Sall makes this principle the foundation of his candidacy for Secretary-General.

The facts are stark. Two billion people now live in areas affected by conflict. For President Macky Sall, the answer cannot be military alone. Peace is also built in schools, hospitals and markets. Where the state retreats, instability advances. Where public services work, violence loses its recruits.

Pillar I makes prevention the Organization's first priority. In practical terms, the vision proposes to integrate socio-economic indicators into early warning systems. Youth unemployment, food insecurity and exclusion from basic services often signal crises before weapons do. Detecting them early means acting before it is too late.

This approach also requires stronger synergy within the UN system. Peace operations, development agencies and humanitarian actors must work together, around shared objectives. Pillar I further recognizes an enhanced operational role for regional organizations, starting with the African Union. They know the terrain. They need clear mandates and predictable funding.

On terrorism, President Macky Sall advocates a comprehensive approach. The security response remains essential. It must go hand in hand with action on root causes and with reintegration programmes that pull young people away from extremist networks. Security, development and social cohesion form a single whole.

This conviction rests on a record. President Macky Sall founded the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in 2014, now a leading venue for strategic dialogue in Africa. He chaired ECOWAS and led several African mediations. His career reflects a consistent method: prevent, dialogue, rebuild. "Trust is built through constancy, fairness and efficiency," he says.
